Patron's Message
One of the most thrilling elements of understanding our heritage
is the discovery of new information and stories which force us to reappraise our
perceptions of reality and myth. Investigation work on the site of Castle Sinclair
Girnigoe is a good case in point. I understand that evidence recently uncovered now
indicates that a castle existed on the current site at least 100 years earlier than
had been thought. Such revelations contribute to a greater understanding of the
social, cultural and military forces which have shaped our land, and I congratulate
the Clan Sinclair Trust on its work. Having been given the great privilege and
pleasure of being invited to be Patron of the Trust, I wish it enormous success as
its preservation plans for this important site are progressed.
